New Research Shows Neurofeedback Can Improve Balance In Parkinson’s Patients

Research conducted at the University of Mashad evaluated whether Neurofeedback training could be of benefit to Parkinsons’ Patients. The researchers found that there was a significant improvement in balancing ability for the treatment group versus the control group after only eight sessions. Using the Biodex and Berg scales, researchers evaluated differences between patients who had received NF treatment and a control group who had not. The control group, which received no treatment, had an improvement of 11% in balance scores, but the NF treated group improved 145% in their balance scores. The researchers concluded that neurofeedback training was clinically effective in reducing the balance problems that almost always occur for patients with PD.
